The Zonta Club of Hong Kong East established two Z-Clubs, the DGS Z- Club (Diocesan Girls’ School) and SPSS Z-Club (St. Paul’s Secondary School), in the early nineties; and two Golden Z-Clubs, the HKUST Golden Z-Club (HK University of Science and Technology) and the City U Golden Z-Club (City University), at the beginning of the new Millennium.
The objectives of the setting up these clubs are to provide career guidance and encourage leadership in secondary schools/colleges/universities and to give young people the opportunity to work together in a world fellowship of service and international understanding.
Z-Clubs and Golden Z-Clubs provide services to their schools/colleges/universities and the community. The Clubs are guided to conduct meetings and run services just like any other Zonta Clubs. They are very active in joining training sessions organized by different organizations of the community and in participating in major functions sponsored by our Club. Our Club arranges training and career counseling programmes for their members from time to time and sponsors activities run by them. Every year, we nominate their members to various awards and scholarships run by Zonta International. And usually the nominated candidates would come out as winners, at both District and International levels.
It is most rewarding to witness the growth and improvement of the Z-Clubs and Golden Z-Clubs and equally gratifying to know that Zonta Club of Hong Kong East has a part to play in the grooming of our young to become leaders of to-morrow. |
