On March 8, 2026, the Zonta Club of Hong Kong East joyfully marked International Women’s Day by hosting our signature Annual Charity Party (ACP 2026) — the 敬耆同歡午宴 — bringing warmth, laughter, and intergenerational connection to 100 cherished underprivileged elderly participants from the Eastern District Women’s Welfare Association’s Leung Lee Sau Yu Centre.
This special luncheon, held in the spirit of International Women’s Day and Zonta Rose Day, celebrated the achievements and resilience of women while fostering community care and harmony. As the Club approaches its 45th anniversary in 2026, the event welcomed 100 seniors for a memorable afternoon of delicious multi-course dining, interactive games, uplifting performances, and generous gifts — all thoughtfully arranged to honor their well-being and spread joy.
The atmosphere was filled with smiles, laughter, and heartfelt moments throughout the day. Elderly participants shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, expressing how touched they were by the caring arrangements, the vibrant performances, and the genuine warmth from our Zontians and volunteers. Many remarked that the event made them feel valued, accompanied, and full of joy — with comments highlighting the pleasant environment, the thoughtful gifts (including the mystery 福袋 goodie bags everyone received), and the rare chance to enjoy such a delightful hotel experience surrounded by intergenerational companionship and cheer. Their encouraging reactions reinforced the deep impact of coming together to celebrate and support one another.
Key highlights included:
• Warm welcomes and speeches from distinguished guests, including Annie Leung, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Eastern District Women’s Welfare Association, together with our dedicated volunteers and 40 enthusiastic Zontians from Hong Kong East.
• A vibrant lion dance performance (“金馬獻瑞添喜慶, 祥龍納福慶團圓”) by talented children from Hong Kong Eastern District Women’s Welfare Association Lei Kwai Tim Kindergarten, wishing health, happiness, and good fortune to everyone present.
• Charming Cantonese opera excerpts (“鳳閣恩仇未了情,” “幽媾,” “紅豆詞”) presented by young artists from Lang Fai Cantonese Opera Troupe (朗暉粵劇團), featuring child performers Wong Pok Long and Choi Sing Yu.
• Energetic modern music sets by The OKAY Group, including popular songs such as “亮代表我的心,” “用背脊唱情歌,” and “紅日.”
• Fun interactive games like balloon passing for prizes, filling the room with laughter and engagement.
• A grand lucky draw offering 100 prizes generously donated by our Zontians.
• A heartfelt finale featuring all Zonta Hong Kong East members uniting on stage to sing “憑着愛,” followed by gratitude remarks from Service Committee Chair Ada Yu, sincere thanks to performers, sponsors, volunteers, and staff, and reminders for every senior to take home their mystery 福袋 (goodie bag) — ensuring everyone left with smiles and gifts.
This ACP 2026 beautifully embodied Zonta’s mission to empower women, promote gender equality, and build inclusive, caring communities — especially meaningful on International Women’s Day.
