Reaching High — an on-going programme with Mary Cove Centre to help the students to re-connect with the society via a proper career path. Focus of the programme has been on self-understanding, life planning and pre-vocational preparation. In this Biennium, a PROB Computer programme has been used to let the girls identify their dream careers. After that, career talks and sharing sessions by professionals had been conducted. Introduction of the web-based tool “COA” made it practically possible for an objective analysis of the students’ interests, mapping them to new career areas previously unthinkable to them due to their problematic family background and limited exposure. In accordance with the girls’ wishes/interests, visits to veterinary clinic Comfort Creature, L’hotel, Sunflower Travel, Pure Fitness, PR Network, fashion designer workshop at HK Designer Centre had been organized the purpose of which was to allow the girls to learn about the operation and available job opportunities and prospects.
This three year running project, ‘Reaching High Project for Mary Cove Center’, won the District Governor D.R.E.A.M award at the 18th District 17 District Conference held in Manila.
