Scholarships for the Visually Impaired 2017 — a recurrent project to award the visually impaired students who, despite their limitations, can still excel themselves in different fields. Over the last two years, six half scholarships (@$15,000) and one full scholarship ($30,000) have been awarded to students of the Society for the Blind on their academic, sports and artistic merits and achievements.
Since 2006, the Zonta Club of Hong Kong East has been actively engaged in the Scholarship project co-organized with The Hong Kong Society for the Blind on a yearly basis. To encourage academically outstanding students with visual impairment to pursue academic or artistic improvements, scholarship funding was awarded to subsidize their purchase of learning equipment or participation in training programs in extra-curricular activities. Awardees may receive HK$15,000 or a maximum of HK$30,000.
Visually impaired students aged 15 to 25 who have outstanding academic performance can apply the Scholarship by filling in the application form and submit to the Family Resource Centre for the Visually Impaired before 31 October 2017. Application form can be obtained at the Family Resource Centre for the Visually Impaired (Rm. M1, M/F, Mainland Plaza, 223-227 Nam Cheong Street, Shamshuipo, Kowloon) or download from the Society website at: www.hksb.org.hk. Vetting Committee will inform awardees before 31 January 2018.
