This year, Zonta Club of Hong Kong East (ZHKE) celebrated the International Women’s Day in a different way – we demonstrated how women can contribute and make the world a better place by organising an Inter-City Forum on UN Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on themes Number 3 (Good Health and Well Being),4 (Quality Education),5 (Gender Equality) and 13 (Climate Action).
We are honoured to have our Zonta dignitaries, Mrs. Teresa Lin, Zonta International Director of Zonta Foundation for Women; Ms. Ofelia Baptista, District Governor of Zonta District 17; Mrs. Winnie Wong, Lieutenant Governor and Incoming District Governor of Zonta District 17; Ms Maria So, Area 2 Director for Zonta District 17; Mrs. Kathy Yip, Past Zonta International Director; Mrs. Anna Kwong, Past Zonta International Director and Ms Olivia Ferry Past International President (PIP) joining us in person or via zoom the Inter-City Forum on UN Sustainable Development Goals. We are delighted to find that the facilitator and attendees, including members from Zonta Clubs from Hong Kong, The Philippines and Thailand were deeply impressed by the outstanding performances of the participating students of the event.
The Forum saw students from Hong Kong, China; Bangkok, Thailand; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Cagayan,The Philippines engaged in meaningful discussions on how to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. It is also heartwarming to see their commitment to promoting sustainable development and making a positive impact on society.
We are indebted to Dr. Shirley Yeung who facilitated this purposeful event and shared her professional insights on sustainable development

Amongst the five student speakers from the four cities joining the Forum, two students were from Hong Kong, with one of them being the President of our Z Club from St Clare Girls’ School. We wish to congratulate all participants, including our Hong Kong representatives for their great delivery and all of them should be proud of the excellent job done. A fellowship dinner was arranged to celebrate with our young participants in Hong Kong.
We wish to thank our advocacy partners including Zonta Club of Bangkok IX, Zonta Club of Cagayan De Oro I, St. Stephen Girls’ College Hong Kong, St Clare’s Girls’ School Hong Kong, English Speaking Union, Malaysia for their great support and participation in this event.
